With our Toy Inquiry we went around the school and asked a variety of age groups, what toys they enjoyed playing with. We put the favorite toys into a graph, then decided what toy we were going to invent. Then we planned our toy and then made it. We wrote instructions on how to use the toy. Finally we made a poster or radio advert or video avert to promote to publicize our toy.

• A middle with one thing in a paragraph
• Our paragraphs had to be in chronological order
• Our recount had to have a conclusion tying up everything that happened and a comment that gives an evaluation.

Holiday Shoes (Jessica)

I was left, buried under a pile of clothes. The child who owned my lay on her bed playing on her phone, she did not care about me. I was waiting, waiting for her to put me on and go for a adventure! Suddenly she got up from her bed, I thought ‘Maybe the time is now!’ But no she walked right past me and put on her ugg boots. I felt like I was unwanted. Still under the huge pile of clothes I was lonely, lost forever (or until washing day).

The child came back into the room and laid on her bed and went on her phone again. I heard the mum yell to the child to get ready for the papers. ‘That means she’s going to put me on and actually bike around, outside!’I thought. I got a sudden burst of joy. The child started to look around for me. She seemed to never be able to find me. It looked like a tornado had destroyed her room, so it was understandable. She soon gave up and opened her closet and got her jandals. My hopes and dreams were shattered. I felt betrayed. She always wore me for the papers! That day I was not worn. I missed going round and round in circle while the child peddled.

It was a brand new day. I knew today was the day I was going to be found, her mum had yelled at her all morning to clean her room. She groaned as she pick up the dirty pile of clothes I was hidden under. I screamed as I was picked up with the clothes and taken to the laundry and shoved into the machine. My life flashed before my eyes as the machine filled up with water and I went round and round with the water and clothes. ‘This is not like biking!’ I thought. Just as I thought my shoe life was over it stopped. The water slowly drained away. I thought I was saved! But I thought wrong. The monstrous machine spun at the speed of light. The machine even shook. I thought it was trying to destroy me, one bit at a time. My soul will go first. Then my tongue. Next will be my lace. Finally the rest of me will of me will fall into the dark despair of the machine. Just as I felt myself slipping away it stopped. I was thankful it was over. But now I was stuck in the machine waiting for someone to find me.

It felt like forever but finally someone opened the door. I fell out and landed in the basket with a thump. I was taken outside it was the first time in forever I had seen the light. The mum hung me on the line with a peg on both lace. I hung there with the sun shining down on me, warming me to my sole. I felt like a whole new shoe.

The school holidays were ending, so I was going to get worn for school. I felt like the most happiest shoe in the world at that moment! Until I  thought she would take me off and do gymnastics in her bare feet. I would fall into a deep dark hole of despire.

We celebrated Father’s Day for the people that take care of us and take the role of a Father. They might even go without stuff so we can have something, some of use take that for granted For our Fathers we made a personal book about our Father's and mine had stuff about my dad and photos with our dad.

Shantytown

On the 10 of August the whole school went to Shantytown. We learned about toys and what kids used to play with ages ago. I learned that in 1800 kids used to do what their parents did, like boys would clean chimneys and work rather than play. Girls would clean the house and the girls would try and get really skilled at sewing so a nice rich man would propose to them so they could be rich. They did have some toys like a hoola hoop and a stick and they would have to hit the stick for it to roll. In the 1900 some toys was invented. Like dolls and wooden toys that their father would have to craft them most of these were wood. If you were rich you could have a puppet theater. They had puppet theaters because their parents would go to theaters and the kids would want to go. So they made puppet theaters so the kids could pretend to act. Then later in the 1900 more toys got invented like action figures/ army soldiers and teddys. These days in 2000 we have phones, puzzles, arts and crafts, barbie dolls and more. I really enjoyed Shantytown because we played games. My favorites were Blind man's Bluff, Musical chairs and the hula hoop and stick, I was really good at the hula hoop and stick. I also liked the game where we had to look for stones that were painted gold like nugget (a version of hunt the thimble). We were all in groups, I was in a group with Sara, Harry, Gia, Nevvynn, Lily. I really hope that we go to Shanty own again soon and I have as much fun as I did this time.

The future city

The Future City

There was a city in the future that and it was under water, everyone had to live under water instead of land because the land was full of trash. The city was a giant glass dome and each house had a glass tunnel leading to the city. In some glass domes there were some tree farms with giant beautiful green trees to get food and also to breath, because since they lived in a glass dome they would run out of oxygen without trees. Nobody would ever cut down the trees for firewood because if they did the smoke would get trapped in the glass dome and they would all breath it in and get it in their lungs. Everyone could only have 2 or 1 or none children to live with because their wasn’t enough supplies and also room for everyone to live if there was lots of children. Some people would travel up to land to get and they would get materials from all the junk up on the land from everything people had thrown out, they would use the materials to make stuff like toys and gadgets to play with, most people played with toys cause gadgets were hard to get and expensive.

The houses they all lived in were small and only had two bedrooms, a kitchen, a toilet and a small little lounge to talk to their family about stuff and to relaxed a little bit, even though the houses were small they were still cozy and the only homes anybody had. The houses were made out of wood and some were made out of bricks but bricks were more hard to make and get, none had chimneys because they didn’t burn wood. To get water they would pull a little lever and it would clean the water then pour it through a small little hole in the glass, there was about 20 of these around the dome and one at each house. In the town they had small shops that would sell some awesome gadgets like hover board so you could go around on them and flying cars that didn’t require petrol. Other shops just sell things that you need like food and other supplies. There is one store everyone goes to and it sells the best chocolate and more flavors every! And next door to the ice-cream shop the sold giant blocks of chocolate, giant donuts and delicious mouse! Some other shops did sell pets also which most people had pets to keep them company.  You could basically buy anything imaginable in the town.I hope the future is like this, a underwater city! The man

There were four young friends out camping in a forest in the middle of nowhere, there names were Jack, Keira, Luke and Chris. Chris had come up with the idea to go camping out in the forest he said he had been camping out in the forest before. They were all got out of the car and started walking towards where they were going to stay and put up the tent, when they were walking they thought that they heard noises between the trees. Jack decided to venture out to where the noise was coming from, he walk through the trees then saw a pathway that lead to where the noise was coming from. At the end of the pathway Jack saw a figure of a person in the dark, the figure started walking towards Jack and Jack ran as fast as he could to get to where they were all going to set up the tent.

When Jack got to where they were going to set up camp he told everyone that he had saw someone else in the forest. “It's probably just another person camping out in the forest” Chris said to Jack “hopefully” Jack replied. The sun started to fade away and the bright moon started to come out, “we better start getting reading to go to sleep” said Chris “yeah” they all agreed. They all got out their sleeping bags and put them all inside the tent. Luke zipped up the front and then everyone got into their sleeping bags to go to sleep and get ready for the next day.

In the middle of the night Jack heard a chainsaw rumbling outside of their tent. “Guys there's someone outside of our tent with a chainsaw” Jack said to the others, “it's probably just someone getting firewood for a fire, go back to sleep” said Luke, “who would be cutting down trees in the middle of the night?” Questioned Jack “just don’t worry about it this place is safe” said Chris. Then the rumbling stopped and they thought the Pearson had gone, but then they heard a woman scream from a distance. “OK what was that?” questioned luke then the they heard a man walking towards the tent crushing all the leaves on the path, then they heard the man breathing outside of the tent. Then the rumbling started again  they all stayed as quiet as they could, they were all scared out of their minds and they didn’t know what to do.

The rumbling of the chainsaw started to get more distance and they unzipped the front and had a look outside and all they could see was fog so they started to walk  around to see if the person was there “OK this is way too creeping!” said Keira in fear shaking, “yeah we should get out of here” said Jack also in fear. “What about our stuff?” Questioned Luke “who cares about our stuff I care about my life!” said Keira “Fine we'll leave our stuff but we'll take the torch so we can see, our night vision goggles just in case and some food and water” said Chris. So they put the stuff in a backpack and started to leave. “Lets get to where we parked the car” Chris said to everyone.

While they were walking they heard some noises between the trees like birds chirping and wolves howling at the moon. No one could barely see any in the thick fog it was black as the night sky. Out of nowhere they heard someone walking between the trees stomping on the leaves making lots of noise. They tried shining the torch where the noise was coming from but it wasn’t bright enough, “I’ll look through the night vision goggles” Luke said and when he looked through them he saw a man crouching in the dark with a chainsaw looking at them. “We should go” Luke said to the others, “then let's go!” Keira said more terrified than before running away. So they all started running hopping the man would catch up to them.

“I hope you know where you are going Chris!” Jack said “I do! Well I think so anyway” Just as they took a corner they saw where they parked the car “see I knew where we were going!” Chris said “let's just get in the car!” Keira said running to the car. But then the man with the chainsaw jumped in front of the car so no one would be able to get to it. “You will never leave this place” said the man and he started up his chainsaw and started walking toward the children. “What are we going to do?!” ask Jack “uh… RUN!” said Chris The man swung his chainsaw at the children but they just jumped out of the way in time.

“Try and get to the car” said Chris So they were all trying to get to the car but the man was blocking their way. “Let's try and go around the back” said Luke to Keira. They went around the back and surprising got to the car but Jack and Chris were still outside. Keira thought she had to do something so she opened the door a bit and got out a giant rock and threw it at the man's head. The man looked at keira and look angry, but Jack and Chris took that chance and ran to the car and jumped in. Chris got into the driver's seat and drove as fast as he could, the man tried to run after the kids but he could keep up.

“That was terrifying I thought that that we weren't going to make it out alive!” Keira said shocked “I’m glad we did” said Jack Also in shocked. “I’m never going to go camping again, what if someone else is out in the forests?!” said Luke “me ever, “I think I am going to camp outside of my house next time” said Chris “that would be better” said Keira. They never talked about what happened that night again and they never told anyone what happened and people still go out to the forest to camp and they never come out.
